1. High-tech attractive building for living, working, business and relaxing in ellipse shape
1.1. Shape, architectural style, building technology, material
The shape of the building was designed according to several criteria in order to achieve maximum position flexibility in all cardinal directions. The other criteria are: High aesthetic00000, lightness of form due to wall curvature, high static strength against lateral wind pressure, maximum use of floor space, unconventional interior design. Eight columns dividing and delimiting the outer wall surfaces give the building stability and neutralize lateral and rotational forces, which otherwise have to be stiffened with diagonal struts in such constructions. The columns, which contain various spaces, are the main supporting elements of the building. The protrusion of the columns from the walls allows for a roof protrusion that serves as rain and sun protection for the glass walls. The color coordination between the blue glass surfaces, silver metallic painted column exteriors, and white lattice sheet protective walls adds a high-end touch to the design.
Compared to a rotunda shape, the elliptical design allows for a slender structure, better interior partitioning and larger radius of exterior walls. The ellipse construction style is also repeated in interior spaces of the building. The large radius is important for the stability of the building exterior walls and exterior wall elements.
Wooden supporting structure is invisibly integrated in the building. The horizontal beams made of laminated veneer lumber are flexibly prestressed with steel bars to prevent bending. During service, the prestressing is regularly checked and retightened if necessary. The roof support beams are covered with mirrors from below, making them invisible in the room.
The outer walls are formed of wooden window frames with appropriate radius, clad on both sides with ESG flat glass panes cold-bent to the frames and glued airtight with pretension. Visible inner surfaces of the window frames are covered with a mirror-polished 0.5mm thin stainless steel sheet. The three components: Glass pane, wooden frame and the sheet cladding are glued together with a special flexible PUR glue in the thickness of 5mm. In addition to vacuum tightness, the bonding also guarantees flexibility in case of expansion of the three materials. It also provides sound and temperature insulation. The bonding contact surfaces of the glass panes are specially coated with an enamel ceramic layer applied at high temperatures to guarantee long-term stable bonding. The mirror-polished stainless steel cladding of the interior window frames guarantees vacuum tightness and makes the wooden frame visually disappear into the room, becoming invisible.
The exterior and, in some cases, the interior surfaces of the columns and also other interior walls are clad similarly to the window frames, but instead of glass panes, laminated plywood panels are used, which are painted with metallic lacquer to a high gloss. The vacuum wood frame interiors are then clad only with thin galvanized sheet metal. Interior walls, floors and ceilings in the bathrooms are covered with painted, toughened glass and underlit.
The production process of glass roof windows is similar to that of side windows. They are glued into molded roof beams in a watertight manner. The edges and the glass pane joints are glued together with water drainage edges and strips made of stainless steel sheets. Thickness of the outer glass panes is increased from 6 to 8mm compared to the window panes to provide more impact resistance. The curvature of the roof glass panes also increases the stability and impact resistance, apart from raising the visual attractiveness. Rainwater is channeled with the edge strips through the protective wall profiles into the water tanks in foundations, filtered and reused for washing the roof and garden irrigation through high-pressure nozzles.
The bottom chamber is hollow made of glue laminated wood beams and laminated plywood panels glued with flexible PUR and acrylic glue. The lower chamber is vacuum-sealed and provides insulation. Floor heating radiators and air ducts are installed in the upper chamber. Floor surface consists of two-barrier boards glued together, wood veneer on the surface. Carbon heating foils are glued in position between the two barrier plates. The floor slab rests on footings made of fit-formed concrete sections, separated with rubber expansion plate and completely bonded to the footings.
The foundations are bolted together from reinforced concrete right corner profiles and form a grid structure with eight concrete boxes under the supporting columns. Under the wooden floor slab, there are hollow chambers connected together in the grid foundation, which form an air cushion separation from the ground. In the cavities there are laid all the water, sewage, electric and air pipes. The latter lead the used air of the kitchen extractor, the house ventilation system and the exhaust gases from the mini - CHP into the foundation sidewalls, which run out underground around the house and under the driveway and entrance. The soil heating around the house, at driveway and access areas will provide improved growing climate with the waste heat and more thermal protection in winter. The foundations will also be better protected against frost in winter. The stale air is enriched with higher CO2 and NOx content and also acts as fertilizer for the planting all around.
The foundation pit is excavated to the depth of 1.2m, filled with 20cm antifreeze layer, compacted, laid with separating layer foil, leveled with a sand layer, leveled horizontally and compacted. The foundation grid is screwed together, aligned, the pipes are laid and filled up to 2/3 with coarse crushed stone as a heat storage layer.
1.2. Passive house with own energy supply
The Crystal Palais is a high-tech passive house with its own energy management. Energy efficiency is achieved in the Crystal Palais differently than in conventional construction. The complete glass cladding including the roof forms enormous potential of light and heat energy in the interior of the building, which serve as the main energy sources in the one-room house.
The vertical solar and privacy window blinds are covered with solar cells and the produced el. electricity is stored in storage batteries. The surplus is used for heating water. The shading of the glass roof is ensured by interior roof blinds made of solar foil, which also supply the house with electrical energy. The heat under the roof is extracted by air-water heat pump through integrated channels and directed to the hot water tanks in the foundations. At the same time, the system functions as an air conditioner and is fully integrated into house ventilation system. The extracted cold is also used for cold storage, which is positioned in the middle of the house
between the garage and the kitchen. The cold room is at the same time a cold accumulator and can quickly supply a lot of cold to the house ventilation system. This, in turn, is similar to the heating system and can thus quickly respond to the change in indoor temperature. The whole heating-ventilation-climate system is integrated into the building and the components are made to fit the building.
In the column foundations are installed 4 water tanks for low temperature and 4 water tanks for high temperature water with total volume of 11,5m2. All tanks are connected with pipelines and controlled with solenoid valves. As a result, the floor heating can be alternately tempered with low-temperature water as needed or quickly heated with high-temperature water, thus reacting quickly according to demand and sunshine. This saves heat energy, which would be necessary for constant tempering. The floor heating radiators are positioned in the cavity of the floor in such a way that they not only emit a radiant heat, but also function as a heat exchanger. Air is blown into the floor cavities by ventilation fans and is led into the houserooms through the dampers, usually under side windows. As mentioned above, carbon-heating mats are still glued in the floor slab, which with the surplus from the el. current allow the floor surface in the residential - exposed positions a pleasant heated surface. The carbon heating mats are also used to heat the floors, ceilings and sidewalls in bathrooms.
In addition, the house is equipped with a mini CHP, which as an additional, and also, reserve energy source, ensures the energy house management. In addition to electrical and thermal energy, the CHP generates mechanical energy necessary for the production of compressed air, vacuum and refrigeration, and supports energy needs during peak periods, such as rapid charging of electric vehicles, etc. The CHP running on bioethanol provides 30KW of mechanical energy and 60KW of thermal energy and can be additionally supported with hydrogen from its own hydrogen cell, thus reducing the consumption of bioethanol. The bioethanol is also used in open fireplaces as an additional decorative heating source.
1.3 Controlled heat, cold and sound insulation
The vacuum cavities in the windows, roof, column and partition walls and floor slab provide heat and sound insulation, which is dependent on vacuum strength. This makes the insulation controllable as needed in summer, winter, day and night. For example, the floor slab is filled with vacuum only in winter and not in summer, so that it is cooled by the ground.
The entrance doors and all windows are double-hermetically sealed with air pressure seals and allow controlled natural house ventilation. Between the air pressure seals is an insect membrane, which protects against the penetration of insects into the interior of the house.
1.4 Automation
Building automation functions as a totality of monitoring, control, regulation and optimization equipment in the building, garden, and immediate surroundings of the building. It is thus an important component of technical facility management. Functional processes are carried out independently (automatically) across all trades, according to predefined setting values (parameters), in order to simplify their operation or monitoring. All sensors, actuators, control elements, consumer and other technical units in the building, such as ventilation, heating, energy generation and distribution, are networked with each other. Processes can be combined in scenarios. A characteristic feature is the decentralized arrangement of the control units (DDC-GA) as well as the continuous networking by means of a communication network and bus system.
The power grid in the Crystal Palais is distributed in five voltage fields to ensure optimal supply with simultaneous economy and safety. The DC 24V network serves interior and exterior lighting components, all sensors, actuators, controls and control drives, and additionally all carbon heating mats installed in bathroom floors and ceilings. The DC-100V network supplies all other carbon heating mats to reduce cross-section of wiring cables. DC-400V network is used to charge electric vehicles, which are also additional power storage to increase the total storage volume of home batteries. AC 230V and 400V is responsible for all standard household appliances and power tools. The cable lines are partially integrated into the walls and floors and are connected with connectors or connected into the distribution boards during house installation. A separate network with KAT7 cable is laid for the data supply.
The complete control system is operated via a house server with fixed built-in and also with mobile control elements such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and can also be connected to remote monitoring.
The automatic house control system includes the following functions:
a. Opening, closing monitoring and locking of entrance door, garage door, all wall windows and their compressed air seals;
b. Shading with vertical blinds and roof blinds;
c. Lighting exterior, interior including light color change, lighting dimming is controlled by time, sunlight and motion;
d. Turning household appliances on and off, remote control and monitoring;
e. HVAC complete control according to time, outdoor temperature, sunlight, premises, space, energy availability;
f. Monitoring system with advance warning and storage of sounds and images inside and outside, in the environment, residential scenario replication, remote monitoring;

2. The building as a series product with selectable accessories
2.1. Exterior color combination
The exterior wall glass panels can be combined as desired in all available float glass colors and coatings. For the model house, the discreet glass color blue without coating is selected. The exterior glass panes for bathrooms in the side columns are covered with foil with silver mirror effect to reduce transparency and to match the side walls of the columns, which are painted silver. Visibility is also reduced by protective walls in front of the columns made of white expanded metal sheet. The supporting aluminum profiles are natural anodized and create a smooth transition from white to the silver walls of the columns. The glass band between the floors is covered with mirror-effect film, as are the entrance and garage doors and the glass panels above on the upper floor. The blue effect of the side walls is emphasized by the blue solar cells on the vertical blinds. Automation eliminates the need for any hardware on the windows and doors. The narrow edge trims on the outer roof edge and the upper roof step emphasize the shape and are made of natural stainless steel.
2.2 Interior surfaces, walls, floors, design, room layout
The Crystal Palais is designed as an open-plan gallery building. The partition walls are mostly constructed of glass as sliding walls, and together with the glass roof and glass side walls, convey an unlimited living space directly in the open air. The transitional surfaces between the exterior and interior also emphasize the impression. The house access and building entrance is laid out with the same granite stone paving throughout to the living interior. In connection with the natural stone floor in the first floor living space, large-scale veneered blocking panels have a noble effect and visually enlarge the living space. The plant beds placed at side windows, connect boundlessly the interior space to the outside. Vertical blinds with solar cells ensure protection from view and shade on the outer walls, and according to your wishes, they are offered in various designs, colors, materials to choose from. Electric roof blinds made of solar film ensure privacy and shading from above, and can also be ordered in various patterns and colors. Interior walls, floors and ceilings in bathrooms covered with under-lit glass panels are printed with panoramic images to give an impression of "bathing in the open air". Gallery railings on DG are mounted from curved ESG panes and have a neutral effect in the room. Staircase made of glass lamellae is also matched to this. Wooden stair treads are alternately dark and light wood veneer framed with white high gloss plastic edges and follow the ellipse style, centrally connected with supporting elements of cut crystal glass, also in ellipse style. Floors in DG are, as well as in EG, are covered with large light wood veneered plywood panels and complete the elegance of the interior.
The garage is separated from the living room with a glass wall and connected on the dining room side with a glass door. The garage can also function as an exhibition, for example, for classic cars and thanks to two lifting platforms can accommodate up to 5 vehicles or can be designed like an orangery. The ceiling height in the garage is increased to 3.50m. Two storage rooms are integrated to the garage and to the rear kitchen wall. One of them serves as a cold room and cold storage room at the same time.
Above the garage there are two bedrooms, separated by a bearing wall, with separate bathrooms and toilets. Access to the bedrooms, as well as to the gallery, is through the so-called " café" above the kitchen. The four rooms in the attic are separated with fixed bearing wall and sliding glass walls offer excellent view not only to the outside, but also to the inside of the house. The partition between the "café" and the bedrooms is designed as a projection wall. This is visible from all sides of the living room. The space above the entrance on the gallery is open and planned as an office. Four bathrooms with toilets are integrated in the side columns in the DG. In ground floor in the right column is a guest toilet also with shower as above. In left is placed a utility room. In the garage columns there are tool and equipment rooms. It is possible to enter all four side columns also from outside. In the entrance column on the right is checkroom and on the left server-house connections-control equipment room. Above is a room for books, files, office machines and audio-video equipment. Columns in the garage entrance house heating equipment and the upper ones in the bedrooms serve as dressing rooms.
2.3. Equipment, interior decoration, fitting furniture, lighting, audio and video selection
The furnishings, like the whole building, should convey a relaxed life in the open air, provide plenty of space for living and decorate the interiors with lots of nature. There are plant beds with fruit trees, fruit bushes and flowers at the edge of the windows, a fountain in the entrance and a small vegetable garden under the interior staircase.
The interior is suitably designed in ellipse style and is offered in different colors, variations, shapes. As there are no right-angled rooms in the Crystal Palais, the furniture is also designed to fit the ellipse style, but this does not prevent it from being designed and offered in a wide variety of architectural styles, such as modern, country, futuristic, etc.
The complete lighting is based on LED technology with 24V. Due to the glass walls, the exterior decorative lighting already provides pleasant interior lighting, which offer pleasant interior light with ambient decorative lighting. Living and dining room is illuminated with the same suspended ceiling lights. The large glass panels are printed with various images and also provide cover for ventilation ducts. The attic is illuminated by lights controllably integrated in the skylight frame. The entrance and the kitchen are provided with adjustable point lighting. In the center of the living room above the stairs and the "café" hangs a large chandelier and centrally illuminates the entire living space.
Audio/video system is installed in upper part of left entrance column and operated with remote control. Surround speakers are integrated in DG floor above the entrance and the stereo listening point is set up to the "café". For video, additional loudspeaker boxes are installed under the intermediate gallery stairs. A projector can also be integrated in the chandelier.

1.3. Controlled heat, cold and sound insulation
1.4. Automation
The automatic house control system includes the following functions:
a. Opening, closing monitoring and locking of entrance door, garage door, all wall windows and their compressed air seals;
b. Shading with vertical blinds and roof blinds;
c. Lighting exterior, interior including light color change, lighting dimming is controlled by time, sunlight and motion;
d. Turning household appliances on and off, remote control and monitoring;
e. HVAC complete control according to time, outdoor temperature, sunlight, premises, space, energy availability;
f. Monitoring system with advance warning and storage of sounds and images inside and outside, in the environment, residential scenario replication, remote monitoring;
g. Audio and video control, house individual and group communication;
h. Energy production control and monitoring;
i. Indoor and outdoor plant watering, indoor and outdoor fountain control;
j. Roof cleaning and garden watering, access path and driveway cleaning.

2.2. Interior surfaces, walls, floors, design, room layout
